His Darkest Hour

One small step for Arizonans. One giant leap for gay-kind! I am so glad that Phoenix gay couples can now register at City Hall, which grants them partner visitation rights at health facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes. That's two cities for Arizona, and many more to go. I'm still searching for such amenities here in North Texas.

To this day, I can't grasp the concept of denying someone the right to visit their lover in the hospital. The U.S. is behind in so many things -- one dark cloud being the fact that we are the only industrialized nation without universal health care. Day in and day out, there are those who use us as moral stepping stones and claim it to be God's work. Their labels aren't nearly as important as their God-given right to feel that way. But legislating that belief in order to limit life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness goes against everything that the foundation of this country supports.

However, our demon is two-headed. One of those heads deals with the fact that America is actually a constitutional republic. This in essence, empowers its states to have separate laws, rights, and authorities with the people's vote -- peppered with a plethora of stopgaps, redundancies, and checks & balances. This spawns billions of agonizing loopholes and endless confusion for gays who are good, honest, taxpaying citizens. States can grant rights then subsequently take them away. Still, other states may not recognize 'your' rights granted to you by your home state. This is why this "War of Rights" ultimately must end at the federal level.

The other demon head are those American citizens who honestly believe they are justified by denying the GLBT population rights because: God hates Fags. Gays will destroy this country. God has willed them to do everything in their power to fell the demonic beast known as the homosexual... including denying a gay man or woman the right to visit their partner during their darkest hour. This is bigotry and hatred at its worst, and for those who really believe this is God's will... be a real man or a real woman and just admit that. I'd rather you hate me to my face than smile at me with a Bible in hand, claim to "love the sinner, hate the sin", then stab me in the back with stupid anti-gay laws.

Look... bottom line is: Why do you accept the homosexual tax dollar to educate your children? Why do you accept an American gay man's tax money to fund a military that he can't even serve openly in? If you won't allow a lesbian to visit her partner in the hospital, then why in the hell do you accept her money to pay for her partner's medical services? Because you are a hypocritical, stone-casting sinner struggling to separate yourself from the pack with fickle self-righteousness. That's why.

.... and for those who believe in God, yet bigotize the homosexual... know that our trials will be by judge, not by jury. There is no juror's booth or additional seating inside, so why are you even standing outside of His courthouse? You aren't part of the equation. You may not believe homosexuality is right -- but that shouldn't stop you from doing the right thing.

Sorry, my fellow readers... just a tad bit bitchy today. Too close to work and too far away from a cocktail....

  3. I don't think you're bitchy here, I think it's righteous anger. The religious conservatives beat us to death with the Bible, but when it's them and their family, oooooooooohhhhhh that's different. Like divorce, like unwed teens, even plain old shacking up in this day and time - plenty of those folks in the pews every single Sunday, but we aren't welcome? Screw it, that's not religion, that's just a social club, and it bites.
